Understanding Different Zone Types

TURF zones represent real-world areas approximately 25x25 meters in size that you can capture by physically visiting them.
Zone Ownership and Colors
Zone Status Colors
- Neutral (Yellow): Never taken in the current round - awards 50 bonus points on first capture
- Somebody else's: Currently owned by another player
- Yours (Green): Currently owned by you, generating points per hour (PPH)
- Selected: Currently highlighted on the map for viewing details
Blocked Zones (Red)
- Unavailable: Cannot be captured during the blocked period
- Cooldown period: Enters blocked status after being captured
- Variable duration: Cooldown length varies based on the capturing player's rank
- Temporary status: Most blocks are temporary maintenance or cooldowns
Special Zone Types
TURF features 11 special zone types, each with unique characteristics:
Heritage and Cultural Zones
- World Heritage Site Zone: UNESCO World Heritage locations
- Monument Zone: Historical monuments and landmarks
- Castle Zone: Castle locations and fortifications
- Ruin Zone: Archaeological sites and historical ruins
- Holy Zone: Churches, temples, and religious sites
Geographic and Infrastructure Zones
- Summit Zone: Mountain peaks and high elevation points
- Bridge Zone: Bridge locations and crossings
- Water Zone: Coastal areas, lakes, and water features
- National Park Zone: Protected natural areas
- Train Station Zone: Railway stations and transport hubs
Competition Zones
- Winner Zone: Special zones related to competitions and events
Zone Mechanics
Capture Process
- Physical presence: Must physically enter the 25x25 meter zone area
- GPS requirement: Requires accurate GPS signal and location services
- Capture time: Takes a few seconds to complete the capture
- Immediate points: Receive takeover points instantly upon capture
Point Generation
- Points Per Hour (PPH): Each zone generates continuous points while you own it
- Variable values: Different zones have different PPH values
- Location-based: Central or high-traffic areas typically worth more points
- Round system: Points accumulate until the round ends or zone is lost
Unique Zone System
- Unique zones: Zones you have captured at least once in your TURF career
- Round unique zones: Zones captured during the current game round
- Bonus rewards: First-time captures often provide bonus points
