TurfZones provides a comprehensive team system designed for TURF players to collaborate, share tracks, coordinate zone plans, and boost their team's capabilities.

Team Creation & Requirements

Creating Your Team

Creating teams requires a linked TURF account.

  1. Visit the Teams section: Navigate to /teams on TurfZones
  2. Click "Create Team": Available to linked accounts
  3. Team Information:
    • Choose a unique team name (must be unique across all TurfZones)
    • Add an optional description
    • Set visibility: Public or Private
  4. Team Creation: Your team gets a URL-friendly slug automatically generated

Team Discovery

  • Browse Public Teams: View all public teams in the Discover tab
  • Team Profiles: See member count, creation date, and descriptions
  • Direct Joining: Join public teams instantly
  • Invitation System: Receive and respond to team invitations

Member Management & Roles

Team Roles

TurfZones has three distinct team roles:

  • OWNER: Full control - can manage settings, members, delete team
  • CO_OWNER: Can invite members, manage team content, change member roles
  • MEMBER: Standard access to all team features

Member Limitations

  • One Team Per User: Each user can only be a member of one team at a time
  • Dynamic Member Limits: Base limit of 5 members, expandable with team boosts

Invitation System

  • Username Invitations: Send invites directly by TURF username
  • 7-Day Expiration: Invitations automatically expire after 7 days
  • Invitation Management: View and cancel pending invitations
  • Accept/Decline: Recipients can accept or decline through their invitations tab

Core Team Features

1. Shared Tracks System

Purpose: Share your saved TURF tracks with team members for route planning and strategy

  • Track Sharing: Any team member can share their saved tracks
  • Track Viewing: Full map visualization with zone details and timing
  • Track Limits: Shared-track creation is limited by the team's effective boost capacity
  • Track Details: View points earned, duration, zone count, and capture path

2. Team Zone Plans

Purpose: Coordinate team activities with strategic zone assignment plans

  • Plan Creation: Create detailed plans for specific date ranges
  • Zone Assignments: Assign specific zones to team members by date
  • Plan Requirements: Requires 3+ team boosts to unlock this feature
  • Plan Limits: Base of 5 plans when unlocked, +5 plans per boost beyond the 3rd
  • Visual Planning: Interactive map interface for zone selection and assignment

3. Zone Viewer

Purpose: Collaborative zone exploration and analysis

  • Shared Zone Analysis: View and analyze zones together
  • Strategic Planning: Identify high-value zones and plan routes
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate which areas team members should focus on

4. Team Overview

Purpose: Monitor team member activity and performance

  • Member Activity: See when team members were last active
  • Team Statistics: View combined team performance metrics
  • Member Contributions: Track individual member achievements

Team Boost System

How Team Boosts Work

Team boosts are contributions from linked team members:

  • Who Can Boost: Any linked team member with effective boost access
  • Boost Values: Linked users contribute effective boost power while tiering is disabled
  • One Team Limit: Each user can only boost one team at a time
  • Effective Limits: Team growth is capped by effective boosts, with a maximum of 9 effective boosts for limits

Boost Benefits

Team boosts expand your team's capabilities:

  1. Member Limit: 5 base members + (5 × total boosts)
  2. Shared Tracks: 10 tracks per boost
  3. Team Plans: Unlocked at 3 boosts, then 5 base + (5 × boosts beyond 3rd)

Boost Management

  • Easy Application: Any member can boost their team with one click
  • Boost Status: View all active boosters and their contribution levels
  • Flexible Duration: Choose auto-renewal or manual monthly boosting
  • Team Impact: See real-time effects on team limits and capabilities

Team Settings & Administration

Team Configuration (Owner/Co-Owner only)

  • Team Information: Edit name and description
  • Privacy Settings: Switch between public and private
  • Member Management: Change member roles, remove members
  • Invitation Management: Send invitations, cancel pending invites

Team Statistics

  • Member Count: Current team size
  • Creation Date: When the team was established
  • Visibility Status: Public or private designation

Danger Zone (Owner only)

  • Team Deletion: Permanently delete team and all associated data
  • Confirmation Required: Must type team name to confirm deletion

For Team Creators

  1. Link Your Account: Connect your TURF account to TurfZones
  2. Create Your Team: Set up name, description, and visibility
  3. Invite Members: Send invitations to other TURF players
  4. Start Collaborating: Share tracks and coordinate activities

For Team Members

  1. Find a Team: Browse public teams or wait for invitations
  2. Join: Accept invitations or join public teams
  3. Participate: Share tracks, contribute to plans, boost the team
  4. Collaborate: Use team features to coordinate TURF activities

Technical Details

Team Data Structure

  • Unique Team Names: No two teams can have the same name
  • Automatic Slugs: URL-friendly identifiers generated automatically
  • Member Uniqueness: Each user limited to one team membership
  • Data Persistence: All team data preserved unless team is deleted

Effective Access Integration

  • Effective Boost Tracking: Boost status updates with linked-account access
  • Stored Role Preservation: Stored subscription roles are preserved for admins but do not affect public access while tiering is disabled
  • Limit Enforcement: Effective boosts control team member, shared-track, and plan creation caps
